The short version
We don't have accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't use advertising cookies. Most of what you do here never leaves your browser.
What stays in your browser
Your scenario (years, miles, ZIP, loan), the cars you add, your saved workspaces and display choices are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. We can't see them. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them.
When you use Copy link, the settings you chose (and any cars you added) are written into the link itself. Anyone you send it to can see them.
Looking up your car
When you type a description of your car and press Look it up, the text is sent to our server and to Cloudflare Workers AI to turn it into form fields. We don't save the description. Cloudflare may keep ordinary request logs for a short time. Please don't include personal details like your name, address or VIN.
The site also asks public government services for facts about a car: fuel economy from the EPA (fueleconomy.gov), and recalls, complaints and vehicle type from NHTSA. Only the year, make and model are sent (recall and complaint lookups pass through our server, which keeps nothing).
If you type a VIN, your browser sends it straight to NHTSA's free VIN decoder to fill in the year, model and body style. We don't store the VIN.
Listings you add
When you add a car that's for sale, we store the facts you type (year, make, model, trim, miles, asking price, location) and the link if you give one. We never copy the listing's photos or the seller's description. Every listing is reviewed before it appears, and once approved it's public: anyone visiting the site can see it.
Spam protection and limits
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending a listing or a lookup. Turnstile doesn't use advertising cookies; see Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy notice.
To enforce daily limits we keep a scrambled code made from your IP address and the date. It can't be turned back into your IP address, it changes every day, and it's deleted after two days. We also count how many requests happen each month in total, with no information about who made them.
How we count visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies or local storage and doesn't follow you across sites.
We also count five things people do, as monthly totals: changing the scenario, adding a car, opening a car's details, comparing cars, and copying a share link. Only the name of the action and the month are stored; nothing about who did it.
Photos and fonts
Car photos come from Wikimedia Commons; fonts load from Google Fonts. Those services receive ordinary web requests (your IP address and browser type) when your browser fetches them.
